Not good at all - MR Cart -
I was not expecting much at the price, but the product that arrived was just rubbish. A pliers with a rusty spring, dirt a plastic box that was soft and cheap, with no latch just a "bump" and it would not even close.
The tools were covered in machine oil to slow down the rusting , but it was already too late everything was getting spots of rust and were dirty sticky etc.

The quality was as low as it goes, the tools matched the discription legally but in no other way, no self repecting store would stock this without clearly stating it is made of cheap low grade metal.

Simply put the set is junk, and not worth the shipping cost nevermind the product cost. Target or anyother store sells vastly better sets in the same price range.

Needless to say I returned it the right away. Of course 10 out of 10 for amazon accepting the return and paying return shipping too.

I agree with eplant that the quality of this item is almost shameful. It appears to be specifically designed to appear like other products, eplant mentioned one brand and I saw another at Radio Shack, yes fails miserably to fit up to their standards. While it has a cheaper initial price than the Radio Shack version (which was about ), with its shipping cost, it came out to over itself. It's not even worth it to return it because I would only get a few dollars back.

I gave it two stars instead of one because it does have some use (although not for me). The pieces are made of a very cheap metal, the case has holes in it from poor injection molding and it does not even close (the latch is there but it is so poorly made it does not even work).

It wouldn't be bad if the item was actually , but it is entirely not worth it when you factor in shipping.

I bought this because it looks identical to a set I got about a year ago that is great, and I think I got it on Amazon. That one was branded "Kronus". This one is branded "Hawk", and Amazon should be embarrassed to sell it at any price. The tools are extremely low quality, and the case is flimsy and doesn't close. This is the kind of quality I expect when I buy things at a dollar store. I'm returning it.

This drill is light weight with all the heavy weight quality of it's big brothers. Nice hand balance and yet it will balance on the battery. This is not the tool to use if your driving many large screws building a deck, or drilling large holds. It will however drill and drive screws for mounting hardware all day long. It's small enough to get into tight places like a wall stud cavity or the back of a cabinet to mount drawer slides. The two speed drive makes stirring paint with one of those paddle things almost safe.

This is not a "ladies tool" yet the size, weight and ease of use would make it ideal for smaller hands.

Black and Decker 9.6V batteries of the same form factor fit and work with this tool and are available at about when found on sale. Note B&D make another 9.6V battery that does not fit this tool.

You would only regret buying this tool if you are expecting the performance of an 18 or 24V tool.

I had one of these for about a year. I own lots of Dewalt cordless tools, and have been generally very happy with them. I use the heck out of my standard 12v drill, so this right-angle drill seemed like a natural addition. I found the body to be pretty large and clumsy, which kind of defeats the idea of getting something for working in confined spots. Because it was hard to hold and manipulate, I had a hard time driving screws without slipping the bit out of the head frequently. After a while, I just gave up on using this and found other ways to get the work done. (If you're interested, I have used a Milwaukee corded "close quarters" drill and really like it.)

I use this drill every day. I actually have several on the site along with a lot of other DW 18volt tools. You could definitely say that a lighter model like the 14volt DeWalt is more convenient for drywalling. And the hammerdrill function is only useful for very light work, like drilling the occasional anchor hole in brick. It is absolutely not a substitute for a real hammerdrill, even a small one like the Bosch bulldog. Nonetheless, it's very handy to have a drill like this in your holster. It can do 95% of what you need if you're doing basic residential home construction or remodeling. If you're a hobbyist, you could probably go with a lighter model, but this one really takes a beating. I abuse it - use it for things that I shouldn't, like running a mixing paddle for thinset - but it still runs straight and clean, handles finish work well. It's just a well-made tradesman's standby. I don't see how you could go wrong with it.

What is up with this drill? - Elkmeister - Montana, USA
First. I have a workshop, barn and truck bed full of Dewalt tools and I would give every one of them a five or four rating. But this drill was nothing but problems for me and I returned it. The chuck adjustment was terrible, the speed(transmission switch) would not stay locked in position and the final straw was the distinctive sound of metal on metal and a wisp of smoke. This was within the first five hours of use. Given the number of great reviews this drill gets I am willing to accept that I got a lemon. I was not willing to take my chances on another. Just returning the drill is a long trip for me and we need tools that we can rely on. Our work is often done way "off the paved road" for you Foxworthy fans. A competitors product in the same price range has been used and abused for a month now and is going great. Sounds like Dewalt has some real quality control issues on this drill. If you buy one hope you get one of the five star drills and not a one star like I did.



Dewalt DC988KA 18 Volt Ice Auger Power Source - Dave R. - Minnesota
I bought this cordless to use with a 6" Lazer ice Auger. My expectations were based on other ice fisherman recommendations. I was pleasantly surprised and satisfied with the results. The Dewalt was able to handle the job easily. I used an Beaver Bay 10" long adapter between the auger cutting head and the drill, but added a strap, just in case the auger pulled free of the drill (problem for some I talked to). I found that I could drill about 10 - 15 holes on a charged battery, depending on the ice depth of 10 - 18 inches. The best part of it is not having to carry a heavy gas drill around... no startup and warmup. I can drill 3 holes in the time it takes others with gas augers to drill one hole. I carry both batteries along and I keep them warm to get the maximum power and life.
